Kimberly Mullen’s work explores the intersection of political theory, international affairs, political economy, emerging technologies, and human behavior. Drawing from experiences across finance, global affairs, entrepreneurship, and the arts, she examines how institutions, individuals, and technological change shape the future of governance and society.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies, with minors in Political Science and Psychology, from The Ohio State University, and a Master of Science in Global Affairs, concentrating in Transnational Security, from New York University. Her international affairs experience includes a term membership at the Council on Foreign Relations and a research fellowship with the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) in Prague, Czech Republic, and Vienna, Austria. She has also completed executive education in Artificial Intelligence and Business Strategy at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), reflecting her interest in the intersection of technology, security, and global governance.

Her writing explores questions of power, legitimacy, democracy, identity, technology, and the forces that shape individual and collective behavior. She has studied creative writing at Yale University and the American University of Paris and was a writer-in-residence at Château d’Orquevaux in France. Her interdisciplinary approach combines analytical research with narrative storytelling to examine complex social, political, and human questions.

Her professional background spans global asset management, international business, policy, and transnational security. She has founded two ventures, Nellum & Co Global and Le Signal, and previously held roles at Bridgewater Associates, a global macro hedge fund, and Bloomberg L.P. / Geller & Co.

Her interests extend across political philosophy, neuroscience, technological advancement, the arts, marine conservation, and efforts supporting trauma recovery and survivors of exploitation, sexual assault, and intimate partner violence. She approaches these areas through a broader interest in human behavior, social structures, decision-making, and resilience.

Her diverse experiences have provided unique perspectives on competition, identity, and social dynamics. As an international model, a former competitor at Miss USA, and a participant on CBS’s Survivor, she gained firsthand insight into game theory, group behavior, strategic decision-making, and the complexities of human interaction.

Outside of her professional pursuits, she is a mother and wife, an endurance runner who has completed marathons and half-marathons, and an avid traveler who has explored more than thirty countries across five continents worldwide and nearly every state in the United States. She enjoys skiing, yoga, tennis, scuba diving as a certified rescue diver, and spending as much time as possible with her family and extra-large, lovable dog.

“In a lifetime we have many options, but not being curious, not seeking truth and knowledge, not understanding people and civilizations, past and present, throughout the cycles of humanity while not enjoying our time on Earth, those aren’t optional for me. It’s imperative to who I am, and in how my partner and I are raising our child.”
